Many
members use their computer for photography.
The Seniors Computing Club Central Coast has lessons for Beginners on Wednesday morning with John Goulton and for Advanced photographers on Thursday afternoons with Brian Schurr.
A diverse group of Experienced photographers meets on Wednesday Afternoons under the dynamic leadership of John Goulton. This lively band of "turned on" seniors, investigate all the new developments of digital photography. It is not a structured course but open ended investigation.
If you have an interest in digital photography, and good skills in using Photoshop Elements 4, contact the President or Secretary for more details of this activity.
A small group of members regularly
attended the classes on using the NVU/KompoZer freeware Web authoring
software OR how to make a simple three page Web site for a specific
purpose or group.
KompoZer is an open source WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) complete Web authoring system. It is based on Gecks, the Mozilla rendering engine. KompoZer is completely free and can be downloaded from http://kompozer.sourceforge.net/ (http stands for hypertext transfer protocol; some other protocols SMTP, POP, FTP)
It is possible to build nice looking Web sites without any real understanding of what makes a Web page work, but you will have much more control over your Web pages if you know a few basics. It is not that hard. HTML is not a computer programming language but a document (HyperText) Markup Language. Then when you want to make some changes to your Web page that your Web page construction software does not do easily, you can duck behind the curtain and do it yourself. This will give you the best of both worlds. However, don't expect to make a brilliant Web page in a few minutes. Good pages need a lot of thought put into their design, and a lot of time put into their implementation.
